I contain multitudes–enjoying my time away from work exploring hobbies that span active, creative and intellectual pursuits.

I believe in the power of knowledge and the communities that form around it, which is why I enjoy creating, participating in, and attending conferences. In recent years, these have included SIGNALS, where I served as co-chair and head organizer; SHAPESHIFT, where I participated as a panel moderator; and events such as NeoCon and NIVAN.
Nature is another constant–the Earth and the circle of life is meant to be shared harmoniously with millions of other species that inhabit it. I seek this connection through hiking, water adventures, wildlife watching, ecotourism, and botanical workshops—often with a fascination for scents.
Most days are accompanied by a good book, an iced chai latte (or oolong tea) and craftwork. My creative rabbit holes have included embroidery, beading, watercolor, murals, knitting, stained glass, nail art, and digital illustration. I am a passionate champion of Mexican artisans and craftmanship, which led me to create Xibalba, a niche export venture celebrating Mexican handicrafts.
I strive to keep moving: running, swimming, and wandering through any city in search of new places. Give me an afternoon and I will happily lose it discovering parks, independent stores—especially jewelers—coffee shops, and bookstores, before ending the day at an up-and-coming restaurant.
